2017 Yearbook Dedicated To Mr. Wolstenholme
Athletic director and coach Scott Wolstenholme was surprised by some of his athletes on the morning of June 5 when they presented him with a copy of the 2017 Dragon Tales yearbook.

“They handed it to me and said I should look inside, and that’s when I saw it,” Wolstenholme said.

“It” was a dedication to the man who has been with Schenevus Central School for the past 28 years, coaching and leading physical education classes.

“It was quite a surprise,” Wolstenholme said, “and I got a little emotional.”

“You are not only an amazing teacher and coach, you are much more than that,” the dedication reads. “You are a mentor. You have been there for whatever we have needed, whether it has been for school, sports or for guidance in our individual lives.”

Wolstenholme returned to coaching girls soccer recently after years of coaching boys teams, and said it has been a wonderful experience.

“We had a great group of seniors this year,” Wolstenholme noted. “They were very eager to learn, and we really pulled together to get things done.”

Wolstenholme said that he appreciates getting to know his students better as a coach.

“I’ve taught most of these kids for years, but when you coach them, you get to know each other better, and you build that trust so you can work together as a team,” he said.

While the yearbook dedication was “a complete surprise,” Wolstenholme said, it was a very pleasant one.

“You do this job for a long time, and it’s moments like these that you remember,” Wolstenholme said. “Something like this lets you know that you’re appreciated for what you do.”
