"Whiteboard Challenge" Asks Students, Staff To Stop And Think
“What is the one challenge you hope to overcome this week and why?”
That was the message posted to the top of the new whiteboard at Schenevus Central School, inviting students, staff and guests to jot down an answer.
The board — found in the downstairs hallway, across from the cafeteria — is a project of the district’s Character Development and Social-Emotional Health Committee.
“We hope this can help build awareness and empathy toward others,” school counselor Laura Bouton explained. Bouton added that the Whiteboard Challenge project aims to promote a positive school climate, and to help encourage a sense of community.
Each Monday, a new question will be posted to the board, and also included in the morning announcements. At the end of each week, the some of the responses will be highlighted on the announcements. Questions and responses will also be featured on the district’s Facebook page.
Bouton said she is looking forward to seeing the project grow.
“We are a community,” Bouton said, “and I am so excited to see what everyone will share!”
