Each year, the Schenevus Central School Emergency Management Team, in cooperation with police, fire department and emergency services, holds several drills as a part of our emergency preparedness efforts. These drills include fire drill evacuations, bus drills, campus evacuation drills, hold-in-place drills, lockout drills, and lockdown drills.
Today, November 3rd, we conducted a lockdown drill in conjunction with the New York State Police Locker Sweep Program. Participation in this program serves two purposes: one is to better familiarize school and police officials with each other’s policies and procedures; the second is to sweep student lockers for illegal substances using the State Police dogs. We conduct the locker sweep simultaneously with a school lockdown drill during which staff and students remain in their classrooms shielding in place until the State Police dogs and handlers complete their work.
Ensuring children’s safety, health, and happiness is at the core of what we do; we will continue our work diligently. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
