Over 50 individuals attended this year’s Veterans Day Breakfast. Mr. Thomas Jennings, Superintendent, gave opening remarks, thanking veterans for their service and sacrifice. Breakfast was served on fine china, and the Cafetorium was adorned with patriotic artwork created by Schenevus students in all grade levels.
This year’s guest speaker, Mr. Paul Barnhart, served in the United States Army National Guard from 1970-1976. A resident of Schenevus, NY since 1981, Mr. Barnhart reflected on veterans in his own family, shared their stories, and acknowledged the importance of Veterans Day by asking that we all “step aside and recall, remember, and appreciate everyone who has, and continues to serve, on the homefront or on the battlefield.”
The morning program included musical performances by the Dragon Tones, High School Band, and Middle School Choir. Roxanne Murray, Mary Teller, and Tracy Odell, members of the Iroquois Chapter NSDAR, continued the tradition of presenting stars from retired service flags, proudly passing the legacy of the stars to those who defended them.
The District extends a heartfelt thank you to those who attended, as it is our pleasure to have the opportunity to honor you and show gratitude for your service to our country.
